If North America was first discovered by Leif Erikson than why do most people give the credit to Christopher Columbus? ?

Miscarried = aborted = killed by contraceptives = kids who are now burning in hell because they're not baptized; Theotokos Virgin Mary gave prayer to "Schema-nun Antonia" on how to save these babies (who were aborted, or miscarried, or killed contraceptives) from hell; basically, the prayer asks John the Baptist to baptize them and greatmartyr Barbara to give them body and blood of Jesus; if you pray this prayer diligently every day, then aborted babies are released from hell.

On each painted nail there are forty demons; painted nails = aborted kids in this family; these kids need to be rescued from hell. Contraceptives = abortion; using contraceptives for one year = five aborted kids.

Miscarriages happen because of high heels (as weight pushes down and baby falls out); cesarean happens because of pants as hips are too tight (second generation cesarean will be infertile).

Unbaptized aborted/miscarried/unborn babies burn in hell until Final Judgement; if pregnant, keep the kid and deliver at home because kids are chipped using IVs and vaccines in hospitals. Dentists and doctors chip patients secretly. Ultrasound leads to mark of the beast; don't do ultrasound, please. Abortion leads to breast cancer; a demon is released from hell for each aborted kid.

Aborted kids burn in hell. Stop being selfish. Deliver the kid at home because doctors chip kids in hospitals (usually in the forehead). Ultrasound is evil (baby's DNA is scraped from foot and sent to the BEAST Computer) because it makes the baby demon possessed. Basically, avoid doctors. Deliver at home.

It was actually first discovered by the Native Americans if you want to be exact.

The difference between Leif and Columbus is obvious for all who care to see. One discovered and nothing came of it.  Columbus discovered, and the world immediately changed as a result.    This is why Columbus gets the credit he does. He gets it because when he discovered it, the world at that time did not have the knowledge it existed. If he discovered something that the world in Europe etc... did not know existed, why should he not get credit for it?

The use of the word "discovered" itself is problematic.

There were people already living in North America. Hadn't their ancestors actually done the discovering? What Erikson and Columbus did was bring knowledge of North America back to their countries. Since Columbus brought that news back to post-Renaissance Europe for further exploration and exploitation, he has been given the historical nod as 'first'. 

The equivalence of 'brought to attention' and 'discovery' has to go. 

Oxygen was independently discovered by Scheele, Priestly, and Lavoisier within a three year period even though it has been around for billions of years and we have been breathing it since humans existed day one. Columbus got America into the historical record. Erikson piddled around a bit but no one was any wiser as a result. 

Because in the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries it was accepted as fact that Columbus had discovered north America.    

That was not challenged until the discovery of traces of settlements in Greenland and Newfoundland in the 20th century and by then most people had been brainwashed with the Columbus myth. 

Traditionally 'established' so called "facts" are hard to disprove.

i always thought america was discovered by another italian , after all america is a large block of land , and how long were the mexicans in california for !!! if any thing the american indians where there first so the discovered it , enen before the vikings . thinks you have a crossed wire in you head .

I learned about Erickson in grade school. His discovery didn't result in a movement for more discovery/colonies. Ask yourself, why. Columbus sailed west for a shorter route to the east. He didn't know what was ahead. This is a very brave man. His discovery of a "new world' 500 yrs. later triggered the movement. Columbus never saw what is now the US but he did discover Caribbean islands and S. America.

Lief Erickson set up a camp in North America

and called it Vineland

Columbus never discovered America

and John Cabot actually explored Nova Scotia

and Main Columbus neve did anything of Value and today would be called a Murderer

But when a People Make Lincoln the Murder Racist and Liar a hero Columbus was a Great Choice one Murderer to another

Erikson didn’t have as good a PR agent.

Seriously he didn’t realize the significance of his discovery and so didn’t really tell the Old World about  it
