A big thanks to scientists in France for turning up this possibility. We need to demonstrate safety and efficacy before distributing a treatment. Suppose it's only effective 30% of the time. It might give people a false sense of security and cause them to go out and spread.

Still too early in the testing stage to determine that it actual is effective. And if there will be side effects that may be worst then the virus itself. Plus it has to be mixed with another drug to be effective.
This may be the breakthrough that lets them quickly develop something that is effective. But they are not yet at that point of being able or willing to use the drug.
