I got a new laptop and I cannot get the wireless internet speed to go above 30mbps, all my other devices are getting 200-300mbps?

My new laptop will not go above 30-40mbps; all my other devices are clearing 200+ easy, my old laptop that s falling apart was almost at 400, but my new one will not go past 40, anyone have any idea with a setting or something that would be making it not connect at faster speeds? My wireless adapter is 802.11b/g/n

does your router have multiple SSIDs? if so, is your new laptop trying to connect to the slow one?

200-300mbps is incorrect. You need to cross reference that figure with a couple of other tests.

take it to a computer store and have them help you with it

my internet speed is only 8 mps, and that is fast enough for everything that I need to do.
why on earth do you need 200 mps
