What is the difference between tablets and laptops in longevity and use? ?

Finally got my stimulus check but I definitely need a lot of stuff for that on check. My Windows 8 broke down and I am using an old 4G Ram Windows 7, which has a lot of security holes. I figured it up and upgrading an OLD computer would cost more than getting a new or refurbished one. I am looking on Amazon and I see tablets and 2-in-ones that offer the same packages as laptops. The only difference I have heard is when a tablet is gone - it's gone. But I have heard that laptops are super expensive to repair. Can anybody tell me from personal experience?

Tablets are a compromise product. It isn’t as portable as a phone and isn’t as productive as a laptop. Get a laptop.

tablets have a touchscreen, laptops have a keyboard and mouse.

you cannot connect USB devices to tablets, and they have less storage space than PCs. many of them are MUCH lower power, although laptops are even lower power than desktops.

and printing from a tablet can be harder than from a laptop.

I personally like Laptops for their longevity and you can generally upgrade them.

Memory, Drives, CPU, and Video Card incrementally one piece month to month my second choice is a laptop with a BIG screen for some of the same reasons, I can't see or read those tablets and smartphones are even worse BUT if I could I would probably have them and sync them all so that no matter which one I'm on everything is with me no matter where I go and the Cloud is nice but when and if it's not there neither is your stuff...

AND I used to do it all myself because shops are too expensive same thing with my auto's and everything else because I come from that generation of people that could did everything for themselves because they could...

I know but I'm a guy and WE just love our toys and tools..

EVERYTHING is throw away today and yes repairing a laptop can get expensive.

Since most tablets now have massive storage capability and octacore processors,

they are the easy choice for me.

Tablets like cell phones also can be repaired but again it can get expensive.

And in a year what ever you buy will be woefully outdated and underpowered so you will need to buy a new one anyway so it doesn't pay to sink alot of money into ANY electronic device.
