As I understand it when spring training was suspended the owners agreed to float the players a loan since they would have no income until the season began.
The players agreed to accept a prorated salary based upon the number of games player. For example, a player making $16.2M a years makes $100,000 per game so if 82 games were played the player would be paid $8.2M.
But the latest proposal calls for playing games in empty stadiums. That means no ticket or concessions revenue for owners. That means a serious loss of money.
So now the owners want to split whatever money they do make down the middle with the players, and that amount will be significantly less than a prorated salary.
The players also claim to be concerned about safety issues pertaining to the virus but make no mistake that their only complaint is about money.

This season is a loss for owners so I think that they should cancel it and let the ungrateful sacks of crap who play a stinking game instead of working for a living go without income for a year.
