Actually, you're case is relatively common. People are attracted to others who seem to know themselves and what they want. People are also attracted to power. Bitches usually are just that because they take charge. I'd advise against getting in too deep with anyone abusive, but if she treats you with respect, and you feel the relationship is healthy enough, then as long as you don't drag innocent children into the equation, I'd say you're fine.
