What is this kind of memory loss condition called please?
First off all, I have OCD, but I’m not really sure what this is. I forget so easily to the extent that when taking my bath, while washing the lather off my body I begin to question whether or not I have actually applied soap on my body or I am still in the first process of the bathing (and yea, I have actually applied it twice before. I couldn’t have known but, someone said I took longer than usual so I knew I did it twice). When driving whenever I take more than 2 turns on an unfamiliar road I would have to write it down, or else I’d forget how many rights and lefts I took if I drove like 500m more. Even on the roads I am familiar with. Sometimes I question if this is the the final exit, right exit or not. In short I am unsure of everything.Sometimes I even question if I am dreaming or awake. Especially when I’m in the bathroom. I begin to pee and then I pause, become aware of my surrounding to make sure it’s real and then continue. Whenever I plan a speech i won’t be able to remember half of the things I rehearsed, no matter how many times I rehearse. And even if I write it down I’d still forget how I planned the presentation. Unless I write down every bit of details regarding the presentation (including time to scratch my head)I’ve been wanting to ask the question here but, I always forget.I play games but, I repeat the same mistake with “every” game I play that’s getting me killed because I don’t remember to effect the corrections. What is this condition please?

I am assuming you are fairly young because you state you like to play games, so I am going on that! First I have known people with OCD and OCD is a manifestation of higher levels of anxiety. It is possibly that your anxiety/OCD can be causing a lot of this especially if it is on the severe side. I relate to a lot of what you say because I do have anxiety and when I feel anxious I tend to not "register" things in my brain similar to what you describe. I will turn in wrong directions, check the stove because I can't remember if I turned it off, not remember if I put the car in the garage, that sort of thing which is similar to you. I think a chronic state of anxiety and/or OCD can affect our ability to register things that we do or cause us to be confused about things. I think this may be your case. I would really suggest talking with your physician about it or ask for a referral to a therapist. At the very least, you should research symptoms of anxiety/OCD so you can read up on it and educate yourself since living with this does impact your daily life. And seriously, if a doctor thinks this is your problem, many times a medication can calm your anxiety/OCD down to a level where you can function much better so it is worth looking into. There are also techniques you can learn through a therapist that can help you as well (especially if you don't want to take meds). Either way its treatable. God Bless.
It sounds to me as if much of this may be due simply to the fact that you're not concentrating on what you're doing, but thinking ahead, or thinking about something in the past. Try to focus on the moment, on what you're doing right now at each moment, and it's very likely that you'll find it much easier to remember the immediate past.
You remind me somewhat of me. You sound extremely intelligent and perhaps Asperger-ian? They retrospectively think Einstein may have had that as well (Asperger's) as you may be aware. And it's often misdiagnosed as other things by psychiatrists. Watch out for the psychiatrists. Please. You're possibly borderline genius.... and you possibly have that kind of constellation of issues which includes some attention deficit disorder along with the OCD and anxiety issues perhaps. Maybe. Aspergian stuff. people with Asperger's also have a bad sense of direction often. I do. Not knowing which turn I just made right or left and can't remember how to retrace. I only hope you're not on psychiatric drugs. If you're on the they could be causing some of these cognitive issues as well, this has been my own unfortunate previous experience, and if you're not on them please don't go on them. because somebody like you will be messed up big time and perhaps even have your health cognitively and physiologically destroyed by such drugs.don't let them take away that above-average brain that you obviously have. Because they will if you let them.. . just try to think of yourself as somewhat of an unusual human being who has talents and gifts beyond those of the average person and is just kind of absentminded with eccentricities and unique issues like brilliant people often do. don't forget that when Einstein was going to school they thought he had serious learning disabilities. They didn't understand the unique brilliance and special gifts that he had. That unique brain is his. please don't go on any of those drugs. The psych drugs. They destroyed me. really. I'm not kidding you. Starting in my mid-50s. Destroyed the great creative mind that I had, my reflexes, physical balance, blood pressure, a whole host of serious physical and neurological issues. Don't let it happen to you. The psychiatrists, with RARE exceptions, will NOT support you in your brilliance... they will only try to make you think there's something 'wrong' with you. Because that's how they make a living. And then they will give you the drugs which will lobotomize you. And then it will be all over.
Mild neurocognitive disorder. Take the MoCA test. If you score low your doctor may order a CT scan of your brain. If abnormal —->Neuropsychological tests and MRI of the brain —-> Neurology consult.
do thing faster with more purpose behind it. Did you forget how to tie shoe laces. Probably not. So your memory is there. Get in there and have a shower I have a clock in the bathroom and can shampoo my hair, rinse and put on Conditioner and then soap my body while the conditioner is suppose to be in there for a bit of time and do my whole body soaping and then do a complete rinse off taking off the conditioner too and be out in 3 minutes. Got no reason to be in the bathroom so I am outta there. I don't have to rush, but I do because I want to do stuff today...whatever that may be. I find stuff to do.
