Very often past abuse leaves behind a trauma that is embedded into the very cells of your heart. Doctors don't comprehend that but your heart remembers the emotions of pain.

The only way to get free from those chains is by following the 3-step process that the Lord gave us. He loves you and he wants you to be free. 

1. Repent of your sins and ask HIM to wash you clean and come inside of your heart. This way you give HIM authority over your life (and your past).

2. Forgive. Forgive. I know this is hard, but the Lord cannot heal you without forgiving first. If this is too hard you can ask HIM to help you supernaturally. Sometimes that is the only way people can get over things.

3. Ask the Lord to set you free. This is a supernatural miracle, and He will not deny anyone that asks him IF they did the first 2 steps above. He said:

Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

The put on Christian worship music regularly. The demons cannot stand praises to the Lord. This will keep the demons from your past away. Play it at night too.

I can assure you also from experience, this is the only way often times to overcome trauma from the past.

you seem to have found the computer just fine, so i think you have selective motivation.  

here's a fact:  someone has to feed and house you.  that costs money.  you either become a mooch upon society or you pay your own way.  it's as simple as that.  if you have 1 ounce of self-respect, you'll un-asss that bed and get a shower and go to work.  

so either GROW UP and take full responsibility for yourself or lay there like a maggot and mooch off society.  plenty of people have problems.  if you need treatment for mental illness, get it.  otherwise, shut up and become a cog in the wheel just like the rest of us.  you're not special.

Pray.  Look up Philippians 4:6-8.  In fact, read the entire New Testament.  I suggest starting with the Gospel of John.  There are answers to life's problems in the Bible.  Ask Jesus to save you and help you. He loves you and died so that you could have a home in heaven.  Put your faith in Him and  follow Him as best you can.  He is our healer and Savior. 

Get a hobby.  Something you enjoy doing.

Something that will take your mind off of the past. 

There is nothing you can do about the past. 

You might not be able to do a lot about the future either,

but it is the best shot you got at creating a little happiness. 

I believe in God. He is the supreme being that makes the rules and truly judges people. As the Bible says, in Isaiah 51:12: "I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?"  EDIT: Changed my answer a bit... What I said before probably wasn't quite correct. But I think the point is, base your self esteem and your actions on GOD, not people. He's the boss.

How about ending your swim in a giant "pity pool" for starters.  My military dad would ask you if you are "bragging or complaining" with your "boohoo" self-pitying diatribe.

I was raised by a father who thought I wasn't his kid---something I didn't know until my 35th birthday. He put my mother on an unwanted pedestal since her family was upper middle-class and he was dirt poor, so his lower self-esteem could not believe this woman he married would remain true (even though she did).  I grew up with constant criticism, unexplained angers from the father I sought to emulate, and yet I transcended all of that to find my own way.  I joined the Navy right out of high school and felt taller when I got out of boot camp (in 1963)---a real confidence booster.  Have you considered doing something constructive with your life?  Try getting past ego and take on a project that puts others above your own selfish interests.  Go into local theater where melodrama is a plus on stage.  Do volunteer work at a local animal shelter where the caged discarded animals only want to find a spark of love and safety.  What does not kill a person in life makes that person stronger.  Quit feeling sorry for yourself.
