People who make it far enough into the process to take that test have already been living in the US for at least three years. So they should already know the basics. But maybe a primer on things like religious freedom and a reminder of our racial/gender equity rules would be good.

I recently did a bout of jury duty and was shocked at the number of people that didn't understand "innocent until proven guilty"; that the government has the burden of proving guilt, that no one needs to prove their innocence. So the citizenship test question should be "The burden of proving guilt is on the _______?" and/or "All American Citizens are ________ until the ______ proves guilt".

We should focus more on understanding basic science—things like evolution and climate change. We should also be sure immigrants understand important laws like the right to vote and get an abortion
