If I want to vote in California for an independent presidential candidate, but I choose to be affiliated with a major political party, can?
I still vote for that independent candidate?

Registering as a member of a party allows you to vote in that party's primary election. But everyone can vote in the main election, and you don't have to vote for your party's candidate, you can vote for anyone.
