That person will not talk to me for 30 minutes straight, because I will tell them I have to leave before it gets to that point. If they insist on continuing to talk, I will raise my voice and sternly tell them I have to go. If they continue, I will yell at them to shut up. As I have gotten older, I care less about looking like the bad guy or offending people, and I have no qualms about telling people to shut up and get the hell away from me.

pretend you are getting a phone call and answer it....talk to "yourself" for a few minutes. that will shut your friend the hell up for a moment and hopefully they've forgotten what they were babbling about
