What happened to the green layout?

The last time I came here, it was designed with a green layout. However, that seems to have been changed to purple. How long has it been like this?

The green version, which had fewer features, has been gone many years. It would not work in today's browsers.

It was replaces several years ago by a newer format.

It's been a few years at least. I miss the green layout. It was more aesthetically pleasing.
