Why does my friend's boyfriend do this?

My friend is a great cook - I love her food but her boyfriend never compliments her on it. He has no problem complimenting everyone else's cooking, even if it's not great! I told my friend he probably knows you are a great cook but wants to keep you feeling inadequate and that she should either stop cooking, confront him or leave him. What do you guys think? I just think he should appreciate her more...

She says he doesn't appreciate her, nor make her feel appreciated in general.

If he eats her cooking, he obviously likes it.  And you don't know what he "should".   If your friend is offended, then she could stop cooking for him?

I think you don't know what goes on in their time alone together. It could be that he's just so used to her cooking that he feels it's redundant to keep commenting on it. It could also be that he's only complimenting other people's cooking because he feels he has to to be polite. Unless your friend is complaining about it I wouldn't presuppose to assume you know all the details of their relationship.
