Has anyone else experienced this with their dog? Dog suddenly ill and no clue why.?

Question

We took our dog in for her first-ever dental cleaning and in the week or two after, she developed some serious eye boogies and eye redness. We read that it could be normal due to her being under anesthesia but as they were not going away, we took her back to the vet and he gave us eye drops and some antibiotics just in case. Then she suddenly took a turn for the worse. She began to have trouble moving around and is very slow when just days prior, she was going on two miles walks with no problem and was super energetic. She also began to run a fever as well and has had diarrhea. As of today, she has no appetite at all even with her favorite foods. The vet has run blood work and done some basic tests but nothing is turning up. Has anyone encountered this with their dog and knows what may have caused it? She just turned 6 so it's not like she's an old lady either. It's just super worrying as she went from happy girl bouncing around to can barely get up. We have other tests scheduled but we can't get in for at least a month.

We took her to an emergency vet. Metastatic inoperable lung cancer. Thanks for any help.

So keep going back to your vet!   We can only guess at what's going on but I seriously doubt this is the result of a dental cleaning, with or without a general anesthetic.   She may have picked up some infection while with the vet but the bottom line is get her STRAIGHT back to the vet for them to SORT OUT WHAT'S WRONG.  I'm shouting because I really don't get 'can't get in for at least a month'.  From what you are saying, she could be dead by then!!

I would get a second opinion.  Anything else on  Yahoo is just a guess.  This is very sad to me - I had a 6-year old Lab, he had an infected tooth, went in to have it removed, came out of the anesthetic but was very, very confused and died later that same day.  I don't know if there is an easy answer to surgery that goes wrong.  The fever/diarrhea makes me think it's an infection, BUT the diarrhea makes me wonder if it's a question of allergy to antibiotics.  I would be hammering on the Vet's door and would NOT be waiting a month!  As I said, my dog died, and I did everything I could.  Your Vet won't see your dog?  Find another Vet.  I hope this turns out well.

I did not answer your other question, but I would be VERY concerned about giving my dog Tylenol.  Very concerned.

There are no Vet on this site to advise you.  I would keep following Vets advise or maybe take her to another Vet & get a second opinion.  I have never experienced this so I can't help you.  I did some research on this & couldn't find any dogs with your dogs symptoms.  You have to trust a Vet & if this one can't seem to find reasons for this, try another Vet.

I agree with Verulam1.  Go back to the Veterinarian and make them check this out.  I don't think a dental cleaning caused this, it sounds like something much more serious.  And if your Vet won't figure it out go to another one and get a different opinion.  They need to find out what's wrong and NOW.
