Every person has a preset genetic height determined by their hereditary make-up.

MOST people reach their full height by about the age of 18 to 21.  People do not get taller as they age.  In fact, many people reach a certain age and start to "shrink".  By the age of 75, you might be one to two inches shorter than your tallest height at the age of 21.  

Simple answer - you are taller than some adults because YOUR genetics made you taller then them.
