When I drive by someone's house and their curtains are open and I see the tv lights shining against the wall I feel cozy because I imagine a cute family all cuddled together watching a TV show.
Anyone else ?

Very interesting. I don't feel cozy but it is an awesome feeling. Gosh I must sound like such a pervert. I like looking at windows, especially if the house is somewhat dated. I feel like I'm looking into the past. We both derive life from it and I think that's cool.

As soon as darkness begins I close all my curtains and either have a lamp on to help me read of I have the full lights on in the room, depending on what I wish to do.
What I don't want is passers by gawping in my windows and seeing what I'm doing and what I own. It is inviting unwelcome visitors to have curtains open and lights on after darkness falls.
