At present, the so called "variants" (the UK, the Brazilian, the South Africa ones) are taking over in terms of the number of cases. Are you implying that the virus somehow returned to China for an upgrade or something?

This (https://nationalpost.com/news/world/coronavirus-silently-infecting-americans-before-first-cases-emerged-in-wuhan-cdc-study) shows the virus was in the US long before it was detected in China. So what I think happened was the virus originated in the US, got to China and mutated a little, spread, and then mutated in various countries. Why isn't the US footing the bill for originating the original virus?
