Why try to defend an idea or practice that is obviously wrong or outdated?

There are many who stick to their dogmas just out of loyalty. In fact, we all do it most of the time.

"I am an atheist so I must oppose religious ideas""I'm a Christian so I ought to believe the Bible in its entirety""I am Muslim, hence Islam must be the final truth"and so on.Why try to defend an idea or practice that is obviously wrong or outdated?
Instead of being bigoted, what is the harm in being open-minded? Collecting good from many sources, instead of being blindly loyal to one.
I'll learn from the Christians, Muslims and the atheists. The Bible, the Koran, the Gita...

Eternal laws are never wrong or outdated, silly.

Trusting in human intellect can be problematic, Proverbs 3:5-6, 1 Cor. 1:18-20.

No it goes like this
"I am an atheist who opposes religious ideas"
There is no "must" but there is a want
Calling atheists bigots is ridiculous. Some bigots might be atheist but thats about it.
One is not a bigot about belief in the tooth fairy and gods have no more standing or proof.

I have asked atheists why they defend their failed and outdated dogmas for many years, dear.  It turns out many of them are too deeply indoctrinated into atheistic doctrines to break free, but i hope they do break free before it's too late, dear.

I knew that you would reveal your true self.. God bless you.

It’s not sticking to dogmas, it’s not about that. It’s a REAL relationship we have with Jesus Christ. He’s alive, dear. Too many Christians stop at Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, He’s alive..
