On scale of 1 to 10 of stupidity, 10 being highest, how dumb is rule that the minority of say a 51 to 49 Senate can say you need 60 votes ?
to pass legislation? lol It would seem to me that essentially a minority can make up its mind it will stop the Senate from doing any work if it wants. How is this a legislative body as we know one to supposed to be?
And we Americans are told this is normal.....lol yes its normal that the minority can stop those elected to power from doing the work they promised to do......lol
Elections are shifting whims? lol
By the way, the Constitution does not authorize this practice, just so we are clear. Its extra Constitutional. Nowhere did founders, "but be sure to make sure that in the Senate you do not fall for those pesky shifting whims of elections and let the majority pass laws. lol
And if its deliberation you want, the current rule actually stops it or allows deliberation to be shut down by a minority. If its deliberation you want, the speaking filibuster is what should be happening, where you get to say your mind, you get to make your speeches of opposition to the best of your ability until you no longer have the energy to do it, and then sanity comes back and things move on with the majority getting its way.
duh....impeachment is specified in the Constitution where it stipulates a two thirds majority to remove the President from office as part of impeachment. My lord, the ignorance abounds....
