Working hard while on modified duty?

I went to the doctors yesterday and was put on modified duty due to my arm and chest troubles. I am not supposed to push, pull, or pick up anything over 10 lbs. I sat down with my supervisor after my appointment and we have set things for me to do while being on light duty. When coming into work today we are so short staffed, I’ve had to work and lift push things that are far too heavy and now I’m just in so much pain. I’ve taken my pain killers and still just have so much that it’s painful to breathe. I’m not sure what to do. At this point. Should I take a day off tomorrow? Should I notified someone about this? I’m terribly scared to mess my body up for this piece of crap job.

You know you shouldn't be doing that stuff.  It could slow your recovery.  Either go to work and don't do the rough stuff or tell your employer that you aren't coming in because yesterday was definitely not light duty and you can't do it.  It caused you too much pain.

First off, don't do it.  If your asked to move something heavy, say "no".  Remember, your boss has a whole department of people he needs to take care of.  He's not looking out for you, because he's too busy looking out for everyone, and the company and the work flow and what ever else.  So it's up to you to say "no".

See how you feel in the morning.  If you need to take a day off or go to the doctor you can decide in the morning.

If your doctor tells you not to do it, then don't do it, your boss can't force you to go against doctors orders.
