How do I kill fruit fly on my peach tree?
How do I kill fruit fly on my peach tree but still get to eat the fruit?
I'm happy to use poisons if they work (and if you can wash them off). Obviously less dramatic options would be better

It depends on how long before harvest you are. Different kinds of pesticides last a different amount of time. If you're looking at organic, insecticidal soap is a good option -- you can use it day of harvest and wash it off -- nontoxic. However you might have to apply it a lot to kill off the flies. On the other side of the scale is diazinon--very effective, but you need to wait at least 20 days before you can use or harvest the fruit. See link below on persistence of pesticides and how long it takes until you can harvest.
