There can be more than one reason. One way it's handled is to get a testosterone innoculation from your doctor; people who do almost always recover quite nicely.

There are several ways to look at the question. From an evolutionary standpoint, lack of sex drive tends to decrease the likelihood of closley spaced pregnancies, which before modern medical care often resulted in death. From a hormonal standpoint, prolactin is released during lactation. Prolactin supresses the sex drive. From a physical standpoint, women tend to lose a lot of sleep after having a baby, which makes them less likely to desire sex. Also, there may be pain from tearing or lack of lubrication. From a psychological standpoint, many women dislike their bodies after having children and believe their husbands do as well, making them uncomfortable with sex. Generally an open discussion between husband and wife, without blaming, will help determine what issues are most prominate. Disucssions with a doctor can also be helpful.
