What is the difference between automotive OBD and OBD2 diagnostics ports?
I want to purchase a digital parametre viewer for my car settings and it says on the box it requires an OBD2 diagnostics port. Got any idea? My car has a standard OBD diagnosis port.

To add to that first response, OBD1 on many cars aren't even called OBD1, as this also varies by manufacturer. This also means that the codes these engine controls have aren't universal either. OBD2 changed this...now all codes are universal, which means the code for an O2 sensor failure will be the same no matter what the car. Also, 1995 was a transition year. 1996 should be the year that ALL vehicles have it.

The OBD1 ports varried from manufacturers they are all different and in different locations. The OBD2 ports are all the same and in generally the same spot, under the drivers side dash. If your car is 95 or newer you should have the OBD2. I highly doubt you will get the parameter viewer to work with an OBD1 system.
