What is a good alternative to Yahoo Messenger for Macs which supports video chat and chat rooms?
Most Mac chat programs do not support chat rooms unlike the PC version of Yahoo Instant Messenger.
Redsoxer, I can understand your objection to Yahoo Messenger, but my friends are Windows Yahoo Messenger users and whether we like it or not, we live in a Windows world until Windows is gone for good. I am not a die-hard Mac owner. I have both machines (Mac and PC). I can see the advantages of one OS over the other and each have a place in the computing world. I just tire of the Mac VS PC war. It's so lame. Meantime, I still need a software that will support public chat rooms in Mac. So if anyone knows, do post them please.

Apple's iChat will do video, but it doesn't have public chat rooms as does Yahoo! Messenger.
Yahoo! is lame, they think everyone uses Explorer and lives in a Microsoft world. Don't they realize that Microsoft is a competitor and that by lameing down every offering that doesn't work on a Microsoft product they're just helping out their competitor? Semel isn't the sharpest tack in the box.

I use yahoo messenger both to chat personally with my family and just to enter the chat rooms to chat with strangers..
