Anyone have an obsession with pens, pencils, office supplies, etc?

I've had one as long as I can remember. It is to the point I buy several packs of pens every weekend. I hate using the pens though because of the ink running out. I prefer to look at them. I also love pencils and other office supplies as well, just not quite as much. Plus, my favorite store is Staples, because it is the only office supply store near me. I would probably love all the others just as much if they were near me. Not sure why, just a satisfaction I get out of it.

Does anyone else feel the same way? If so, what is your favorite pen, pencil, supply, etc?

I know its weird, just wanted to see if anyone else has similar feelings.

Update:

eckhart that could possibly be why. My parents owned a restaraunt. When I was younger I would sit in the office for a good part of the day while they were at work. I found it to be a lot of fun doodling with permanent markers, punching the keys on the printing calculator, etc. I remember my uncle once gave me an old printing calculator that I loved that was on his desk, big, shiny, colorful keys, I just loved that thing.

Thanks for opening my eyes as to why this could be.

Any one have similar love for office supplies ;-)

Update 2:

fashionista that is so funny, that is exactly how I am. However, possibly worse. I have two large tupperware containers full in my room. I have several tupperware desk organizers full on my desk. The main pen/pencil drawer filled on my desk and the drawer off to the side.

I just love pens, I'm always buying new ones. It's to the point where I can't find a pen that I don't have yet. We should get together and compare are collections, lol. Thanks so much for sharing, it is pretty cool to know someone has the same odd obsession as me.

Girl! My bf has a HUGE obsession w/pens. Our house has a drawer AND a shoebox size tupperware holder FULL of ballpoint/roller pens, 98% of which are black! It is kind of nuts, but it's something I've given up trying to make sense of. Every time we go to Target, Wal-mart, or some place that sells pens, my bf has to AT LEAST browse the aisles! He doesn't buy a pen on every single outing...thank God! He says he needs diff pens because sometimes he'll have diff moods...like if he's angry, he likes to use a pen that draws a thicker line. If he wants to write a check out to someone as a gift, he wants a nicer pen. Despite all the pens in our home, I can't venture to say whether he's found the absolute perfect pen!

Well I'm glad I'm not alone here. I love pens but I will typically stick with 2 or 3 brands. For the couple years, I've used Tul; I have literally boxes of pens in my closet, more than a hundred and if I lose one its upsetting. If lose a few of them I'll buy 3 or 4 more boxes because I feel running out. Living in Saudi Arabia, that gets expensive to have pens shipped to me. I have to have a pen on me and everywhere I go. Although my wife was shocked first time she saw my collection, she's kind of given up on this.

I also have hundreds of notepads also. All in a stack. I use them but obviously i cant write that much. I dont know... I'm just so fascinated with pens - it's something that takes human knowledge and allows us to preserve it for infinity.

    Let p = the cost of a pencil and q = the cost of a pen 3p - 2q = 3 10p + q = 240 p = 21, q = 30 A pencil costs 21¢, and a pen costs 30¢.

    Yes,

I have tons of pens. I have at least 4 different storage spaces that are full and I just bought more pilots! I also really want to buy some new Tul's and a fountain pen. Gahhhh, I blame it on being a writer even though I'm typically typing. :3

I have bought stationery for over 40 years for various firms so it must have started there but I am obsessed with pens and pencils almost addicted. I am currently sitting with 30x in a pot/mug next to me even though retired. My writing is appalling and I use a computer so only use my scribes for notes etc. Just love the look and character of each weird or what!!

    I'll assume that you want us to calculate the cost of an individual pen and pencil... I'll be using dollars throughout. Let A be the number of Pens and B be the number of Pencils. The first condition says: 3B = 2A + 0.03 The second says: A + 10B = 2.4 If i rearrange the second to get: A = 2.4 - 10B, and substitute this into the first, i get: 3B = 2(2.4 - 10B) + 0.03 3B = 4.8 - 20B + 0.03 23B = 4.83 B = 0.21 Now i substitute this into any of the equations. A = 2.4 - 10B A = 2.4 - 10(0.21) A = 2.4 - 2.1 A = 0.30 So a Pen costs $0.30 and a pencil costs $0.21

Heck yes! My favorite brand is the Parker Jotter Ballpoint pens. I'm a pen collector, and love the swiftness of the pen.
