How long does it take for an astrodroid to become technologically extinct? Are they upgradable?
If my computer can only last about 3 years before its good for nothing, then how can R2D2 and C3PO last through at least two generations of humans? Wouldn't Luke need something more current? I suppose the X-Wings were older planes, but on the farm Uncle Owen probably could've used a more current model. His first choice didn't look much better. Maybe farms are where former military droids go to live out their end days. Any thoughts?

Think of them as toasters. Very reliable and long lasting. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, they were much more technologically advanced than us, so the droids were good for two to three hundred years. They came with 125 year warranties!

If say a farming driod was developed souly for farm work, it may have to adapt to new tasks, but in term, the new tasks would replace the old ones.
I think the actual android brain would outlive its battery and chassis about 50 times before it became redundant.
If the droid HAS to keep with technology, better processing power would be needed every 3 years or so to process more advanced algorithms and to make more calculations in shorter amounts of time.

The fact is, both bots contain a small ammount of clostrod 473. This enables the molecular structure of the bot to increase in denisity at thr rate of T^4/3.14(786)/t^. You probibly knew this but did you also know this causes an effect similar to molecular regeneration at the sub atomic level? It is an obscure but simple application.
