Cetaphil moisturizing cream is the best that I have found. It is a cream, not a lotion, which gives it more staying power (won't wear off quickly), is non-comedogenic and fragrance free. It works wonderfully. I use it on my dry cracked heels and anywhere else, and it doesn't leave an oily, greasy residue, and doesn't sting if you happen to have any cracks in the skin. It really does work great, but it's not the cheapest stuff out there. A little goes a long way, though, so it's worth what you pay for it. You can buy it at almost any walmart, and probably any drug store from like $5.00 for a small 4-6oz tube or $12 or so for a 16oz tub of it. It really does work great.
Yes, you can use it on your face, too. As I said before, it doesn't leave any greasy or oily residue and does not feel "heavy" on your skin. I have a problem with lotions causing pimples on my face, but this doesn't do that.

I don't have really dry skin, but I use a brand called "Artistry" (it's made by Amway) and they have some of the best stuff for dry skin through their catalogs. Look it up on the web. Prescriptives and Lancome make some good ones, too (find them at the mall). Or if your budget is tight, try using Aveeno or Clean & Clear (at drug stores). My boyfriend recommends Cetaphil. :-)

Most listed are medicated and your skin, at some point, will only respond to those. Just in the same way that lips can get "addicted to lip balm" your skin will become addicted to those medicated lotions. You're better off using something natural. I love Alba (at Longs)cocao butter lotion (I use it for my face, though). I'll be 30 next month and people think I'm still a teen. That's how good it is!

I like all the vitamin E creams from The Body Shop. They're very good for dry skin.
