I am walking in the snow from A to B, When i return From B to A I walk in the same footsteps but opposite?

but in the opposite direction, no matter how hard I try to walk beside the other footsteps i keep comming out on the same footsteps altough they are in the opposite direction, can anybody give me a reasonable explanation for this

    I have to admit, if this is wrong, its because I don't exactly understand what you are trying to say. However, I actually sat here and thought about this for awhile and had an inclination to try it.

    Then I realized something. One leg is slightly longer (or maybe its slightly stronger, I can't remember) than the other, so over time, your steps are not going to stay constant. This is why you need a compass in the wilderness, otherwise, you'll walk around in one large circle even though you think you're going straight.
