The recent U.S. budget is eliminating the Americorps NCCP program. Have you ever directly benefitted from it?

Americorps is a government sponsored program to encourage civil service and non-profit work. Some examples of projects include hurricane relief, working to support homeless shelters, and building/renovating houses. In return for serving others, members receive financing for college and other benefits.

I assume if you hav been directly involved by/with Americorps you would know of it.

Based on the number of responses so far, I assume either the program doesn't have much influence or more than likely people involved with Americorp or supported by it do not have access to the internet or use Yahoo Answers.

Still I'ld like to hear any positive or negative stories if I could.
