Peace Corps question re: couples?

Has anyone ever joined the Peace Corps as an unmarried couple? Or as a married couple? What's the likelihood of being able to go to the same country together, whether married or not?

I was in the PC as a single person but I also worked at a recruiting office and my guess is that the rules continue to be the same. There is certainly no way you would be guaranteed a position with your "significant other" if you are not married. In fact, during one of the final phases of the recruitment process you still probably have to provide information on whether you are seriously "attached" (while it may not affect your chance of earning a PCV spot, understandably they will want to be sure you are able to be away from your boyrfirend/girlfriend for a long period of time).

If you are married and have no dependent children (or your children are legally under the responsibility of another person) you may apply with your spouse and then hope for the best. You will each be evaluated individually to see if you are "PCV material" but if both of you pass muster you will be assigned to the same place.

This is what I know but you should still check up with a recruiting office. See the website below to get a list of recruiting offices and their phone numbers.

    Good luck!
