what the heck is a moon doggie?
somone just asked a question they said they saw a moondoggie and wanted to know its signifigance.
I don't even know what one is.

A moondog is the lunar counterpart of a sundog. Moondogs are also known as paraselenes, and are refracted images of the moon that appear at 22 degrees on either side of the moon when horizontal hexagonal ice crystals are present in the atmosphere. The same thing creates the sundog phenomena.
I have enclosed some links with pictures of moondogs.
Apparently they are called moondogs because of the appearance of a "tail" on the image.

A perfect circle, or thin band of clouds in a PERFECT circle around the moon.
