Baby shower gift?
a coworker/friend is having a baby shower and her theme for the baby is winnie the pooh. i'm steering clear of anything that everyone else might buy her locally (walmart, target, babies r us, etc etc) and am having no luck finding unique WTP baby friendly gifts online... any suggestions/sites/ideas..... for the actual baby shower i'm making adorable cookies designed in a baby theme.. but i'd like something to give her as a gift for the baby... i'm fairly creative and wouldn't even mind making her something but I do not sew or knit :( i know i'm probably making too big a deal of this but figured i'd throw up the question to see if anyone can help :) thanks

I am like you and hate to be lumped into the same gift everyone else is giving. I am finding that some of my better received gifts have been books in their theme. Most people don't think to buy a newborn books. Barnes and Noble has 914 different selections of Pooh books so you should be able to find something in you price range. Look at number 5. It is the 75th anniversary complete tales and poems. It is under $30.00 so it is affordable. If your budget is more or less you can adjust what books to buy.

When my friends and I go to a shower,we usually make a basket of things for the mom-to-be. The basket usually includes things like a toy for baby, socks, onsies, baby wash and things like that. You could give her one that is WTP themed. A nice thing to include is one of those tins that has a kit to make a baby hand print so she can do it after the baby is born and personalize it the way she wants it What you put into the basket is up to you,but since she has a theme, you may want to get things for either a boy or girl depending on what she is having if you already know.

what about a tape of wtp songs/lullabies..along with a nursury player to play them on?
or a collection of videos for when the baby is not a baby anymore?
a wtp holloween costume? when will the baby be born? figure out the size at holloween time.
maybe a collection of the original stories of wtp?
oooh..you said you like to make things..what about finding a wonderful quote from wtp and painting it on a wooden ribbon that can be hung in the childs room?

You did not mention if you crochet. You could crochet some baby booties. Buy some Pooh patterned fleece at your local fabric store and cut up into baby blanket size. Fringe the sides no sewing required. New parents can never have to many bottles, pacifiers, diapers etc.

How about something just for the mom. I got a basket that had some bath stuff and a certificate for a mani/pedi from a local spa. It was one of the best gifts that I got!

here is an idea that i used for my own babyshower! i went and got paintable WTP figurines and painted them and used them as my table centerpiece. they carry them at walmart! and my mom passed down the figurines she got at her shower to me at mine. its a set of classic pooh figurines. that was my theme for my baby.
