Gifts from a jar??

I have noticed many "Gifts from a Jar" recipe books. The recipes a great, but how do I decorate the jar? I am wanting to make them pretty and have plenty of scrapbooking supplies on hand. Anyone out there who does this?? Thanks!

Use your scrapbook suplies by using paper cut to size of canning jar lid. Decorate with buttons, scraps of fabric & paper, stickers, silk flowers ect. Hot glue gun of other sticky dots work well to atatch them.

I have used recycled cards (theme Easter ect.)Shapes cut out of cards ect. Used punch and put eyelet in The top of the cut out and then used wire around jar and used twirled wire to attach paper dangles.Filled the jar with seasonal candy and made matching gift cards to match. You can also use fabric rounds cut larger than lid and put between jar seal and twist on lid and use ribbon to decorate around edge. Add flower ect as you wish.

This is just a few of the ways I did some this past year for gifts. If you scrapbook you know there are just tons of beautiful paper items out there. Happy crafting!

  • The tops can be decorated in a variety of ways. My favorite thing is to use novelty fabric to make circle jar covers with the edges done with pinking shears. (I usually find a round plastic lid to make a pattern). You can find novelty fabrics in country themes and holiday and bithday themes as well. Place them over the jar lid and tie them on with twine, ribbon, or raffia.

I always print the recipe on a fancy pretty label for the front of the jar. But I've seen people place it and the directions on a hang tag.

I make a lot of these during the holidays. People love them!! Just experiment with different ideas, and have fun!!
