What was the "Misunderstanding"?
In the Genesis song, "Misunderstanding" what was the misunderstanding? I remember this song from my youth and I always wondered about it.

I think the "misunderstanding" was that he thought the girl he liked was interested in him. The upshot of the whole song comes at the end: He goes to her house (after calling repeatedly and getting no answer for a long time, and going to the places they used to hang out). Upon arriving he sees another man leaving her house. A big misunderstanding if you ask me. Poor Phil :(

It's sounds like he [Phil Collins] was expecting some chick to show up, so he wouldn't have to wait in the rain for hours. Apparently, they got their wires crossed and, for a myriad of reasons, never got together. Hell, why didn't he just e-mail her?
