If you'd like to change the name that shows up in your yahoo! chat, you should change the Nickname field on your profiles.yahoo.com page. Sign in to profiles.yahoo.com and then change the nick name. when you are in chat, that's what people will see. good luck.

Do as the_lady_next_door says, change your nickname or if you don't want the people to recognize you at all, create a new profile and used it instead of your old ID
