Make sure you clean the cabage off before boiling it. There are safe cleansers known as "vegatable wash" which you can use on all types of fruits and veggies. If your not interested in that method, take the easy way out by washing your item off with warm water to clean off any chemicals/pesticides and insects....then boil it...

If you are worried about fresh cabbage, you do not want to know the government standards for the allowed amount of insect parts in a can of Tuna fish!!

The intense heat of boiling oil reacts with the sugar naturaly found in potatoes and starts to carbonise. If you left your boiled potatoes long enough they would turn darker colour.
