i have lucid dreams quite often but find it hard to control my thoughts. Is there a way to deal with it?

sometimes when i am dreaming, i realise it is a dream, specially when it is a bad dream. Then, i try to change my dream into something more favourable, for instance, if i am being chased, i try to change the location or reach home or run faster. But, i find it very hard to change and i end up stopping the dream(which has been quite a relief most of the times). However, i would like to know how i can literally change it to the way i want it happening.

i have been having lucid dreams only for the past 2-3 years since i actually got to know about it.This is a technical question and would really appreciate answers from people who really know this stuff.

I just asked a question on this, too. I've experienced lucid dreaming for most of my life, and I face the same challenge. I can always wake myself up if I'm not happy with the dream. Or I know that I'm dreaming, and that there's no danger, and then it doesn't bother me. But I really want to control the dreams.

I haven't had much success either. But the wikipedia info on lucid dreaming is very interesting and has a lot of insightful links.

You might want to try to initiate what is called "consciousness during sleep paralysis." Most people don't know it, but when we are asleep, we are actually temporarily paralysed; this is a defense mechanism our brains are hardwired for, to prevent us from acting out our dreams while we sleep. In fact, "astral travel" is nothing more than consciousness during sleep paralysis. The best way to experience this is to sleep somewhere you don't normally sleep, such as an easy chair instead of your bed. If you're up to it, you might even try to sleep on the hard, cold floor.

I did this. I kept a dream diary for about two months. Keep paper and pen right next to you. Immediatly write down every dream. As you do this you will remember more and more detail. As you recall more detail you will be able to, gradually, exert increasing amounts of active control. It can get kinda tedious but keep at it.

Yes, I've been in same situation like you, and I can control the ending of the dream. How? By not waking up, in that time, we realize that we are sleeping and dreaming and we want good things happen. We control by not waking up and we just go and control. Practise.

You just have to believe that you can do it. You have to believe that you are in control. Total control. That is a very hard thing for most of us to do. Scary. Most people would actually prefer to continue thinking that they are not in control.
