I have a router but I'm now facing Internet connection problems... some help please!?
I had my router set up a month ago - but now I seem to be facing Internet connection problems. Sometimes, my Internet connection dwindles down and I can't get onto the net. In the lower right hand corner of the taskbar - I see the computer icon flashing on my side, but there seems to be no response from the Internet. I check the light on modem and router and everything is okay - but I can't get onto the net! Why?
I tried repairing the connection - but sometimes I get the response, Windows is unable to renew the IP address. What is happening? How can I fix this? I have a feeling it may be something that I set when I was fixing the router up...
Details on my system:
- Windows XP
- Aztech ADSL Ethernet Modem (DSL 600E)
- DLink Ethernet Broadband Router (DI-740P)
- Pentium 4 1.7Ghz, 1024 RAM, 40+ Gb of space
Both my routers are set on dynamic IP.
I mean, my router is set on dynamic IP... for both the computers.

sounds like a headache to me. my dad uses DSL which shares a phone jack with the regular telephone via a cheap connecter. then the line runs into his DSL modem. From there he has an ethernet chord running into a wireless router. From there he has an ethernet chord running into his actual computer. Not to mention the wireless network itself. Then on top of that mess he has a different, ever changing, password for each device and his computer is so loaded down with adware and spyware and who knows what else so whenever there is even the smallest problem it is like finding a needle in a haystack.
LOOK AT YOUR CHORDS! are any of them messed up at all?
are you using a wireless network and all of your neighbors are getting online through your connection without you knowing? that would be funny.
If youre on anything faster than dial-up you shouldnt be having such slow problems.
I think windows is unable to renew this IP address means that you keep getting disconntected from you ISP. Probably your routers fault.
I dont know man. my advice is KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. reinstall your router. Try connecting to the internet without your router and if it works good than you know for sure the problem is something with your router. .... no matter what i can tell youre in for a headache. Good luck

If you have more than 1 computer running on the same router make sure they are not running file sharing software.
Also you could try rebooting the router.

is your router set for dynamic ip or static ip? It sounds like you need to set it to dynamic.
