What is a rebate ? Why do I have to pay a higher price first then wait for the manf. to return my money ?

Why do I have to pay the higher price first then wait for the manufacturer to refund my money? Why can't I make my purchase at the discounted price at the register?

    It allows the company to gather valuable marketing information and also ensures that your warranty is properly validated, saving the company money by knowing exactly when you bought the item.

    Also, many companies bank on the fact that you will buy their product and either forget to send in the warranty or not complete it properly, thus you paid more money for nothing.

    Some stores don't sell as much of the product as the company does, so they charge the reg amt at the store and the manufacture provides the rebate. Unless the manufacture stipulates instant rebate. The store must comply to the manufacture guidelines.
