how about the LACK of land in new orleans and how it's a fishbowl that never should have been, but since it IS a city (thanks to the government) it should be taken care of like a ciy (land) and NOT waistlands.

You could always mention the value of land in certain areas--what land goes for in different areas as far as real estate and what percentages of land are used for what. I suppose you could also look at the science of it, what land is composed of in the different areas and how the glaciers changed the lands. You could include the highest and lowest points of land too. And also what people consider beautiful land, waste land, etc. Hey, you cold mention the songs that have been written about land: This land is your land, etc. And the expression Land Ho!

You could always mention the wars that happen over land ie Native Americans & the settlers, Middle East.
