Is it ever too late to learn to play the fiddle?

Am not interested in being a classical virtuoso, I just want to be able to play folk songs. Can anyone recommend a teacher in London (that's two questions, I know ;)

Update:

I'd particularly welcome the views of music teachers!

    Hi there,

It's never too late to take up an instrument. The Violin is a hard instrument to learn and will take a lot of patience but don't let that put you off, it'll be worth the effort in the end.

I'm afraid that I don't know any teachers in London but you could start by looking up your local Yellow Pages for teachers or contacting a local musical institution. A local high school/college that does music will probably be able to put you in touch with a teacher. You could try emailing the Royal College of Music in London for advice, here's their website:

    Good Luck!!

First of all;its never too late to learn most anything. If you are physically able, go for it. As for teachers, that you will have to look elsewhere. But I would recommend checking with music stores in your area. They should have information on teachers and may offer classes themselves.
