Be a good listener, not a good talker. My biggest problem with real estate agents is that they simply do not listen to the actual words people say to them. Marketing is a tool to make people want to work with you - once you've made a few successful deals and left your clients happy (by listening to them!) your success will be guaranteed by word of mouth.

Knock on doors in your community and introduce yourself and let them know of the services you provide. Find listings first. Then if you are good word by mouth will spread.

Networking, networking, networking.

A friend of mine used to make her own salsa, and give people who listed with her 2 jars with her business card on them. On for cleint, one for friend.
