What are some good books for a 12 yr old boy to read?
He likes to read, but I can't find many young books that are geared for boys! (We've read The Chronicles of Narnia & The Charlie & the Choc. factory series)

Hatchet, The River, Where the Red Fern Grows, Harry Potter, White Fang, The Indian in the Cupboard, A Wrinkle In Time (there are several books in the series), The Janitor's Boy, Gold Dust, Tuck Everlasting (yes, boys like it too. They like the book better than the movie.) The Time Bike, From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil Frankweiler, The Fighting Ground,Call me Francis Tucket. If he's a good reader, try The Westing Game, The Giver, or Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. These are all more advanced. If he is in Gr. 7 and a good reader, these will be doable.
This should get you started. CHeck with the school librarian or the public library. Happy reading!

As with anyone else, it depends upon his interests. Go to your local library and talk to the librarian. Tell that person what his age is, his reading level and his interests. You will find more than enough to satisfy his curiosities. And above all.. ALWAYS encourage his reading.. it is a wonderful thing now.. and will serve him very very well throughout his life.. more than simply reading, it will enhance and improve his powers of concentration which will, in turn, improve his ability to retain information.. and that will certainly be of WONDERFUL help when taking tests!
