That would be the Cubs of 1906, not 1916, who went 116-36, easily the best W/L Percentage of any Major League team ever (after 1900)

The Cubs lost the World Series that year to the cross-town White Sox, in a major upset...the Cubs would go on to defeat Ty Cobb and the Tigers in the World Series' of 1907 and 1908, but as we all know, they haven't won a W.Series since...

the 1916 Chicago Cubs with a record of 116 wins, 36 losses for a winning percentage of .763

Seattle Mariners with 116 wins and lost in the playoffs.

116 wins-- Seattle Mariners a couple of years ago. Tied the '09 (I think) Cubs... but you have to give it to the Cubs, because they played fewer games.

Source(s): Experience... it was a great year!
