What are the diff paintings in the Louvre?

What are some of the famous paintings in the Louvre Museum at France aside from the Mona Lisa (of course)? If I were to visit the Museum and have only a short time to tour around, what paintings do you suggest I visit first?

The Louvre is most likely the largest, most esteemed and best known art museum in the world. To only go on a short tour of the museum or only concern yourself with the "well-known" paintings would be a total shame. You could easily dedicate a MONTH to visiting all of the galleries and giving the artworks the attention they deserve.

But, I guess there are always highlights of any museum's collection. Such as...

Rubens - The Arrival of Marie de Medici at Marseille

da Vinci - Virgin of the Rocks (other version in London's National Gallery)

Gericault - Raft of the Medusa

Of course there are so many others but it's too overwhelming to list them or remember them all. Unfortunately I was only able to spend the better part of one day in the Louvre when I was in Paris. I could easily spend a month in the Louvre, like I said. Also, don't neglect the sculpture! There's beautiful sculpture there too, like Apollo and Daphne and the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

I guess visiting the museum's website to see what they've chosen as their collection's highlights would be best to pick and choose.

good question, if you are with a group of a family then you will probably want to hang around the Mona Lisa so nobody gets too lost. I would avoid downstairs in the castle area, but would go down there to see King Louis Sculptures of the men riding horses then go up to the centre of the gallery if you are on your own. But do what you want, enjoy yourself and take as much time as you need. Do not rush through a gallery because there are pieces that can not be appreciated with a fleeting look.

While in Paris I would visit the Notre Dame and as many of the churches, wish I could help more but I can't.
