If it is a lump you feel usually on the outside of your breast near your underarm, there is a good chance that it is related to your menstrual cycle. There is a lymph node there that swells up in response to the chemical stuff going on around that time. It usually takes a week or so after the bleeding stops before the chemical it is reacting to to go away and so stays swollen longer. I have this problem and it is usually very tender. Either way, I would suggest going to the doctor about it. I was really nervous the first time I had to get checked out, but was really suprised at how easy it was. Just be sure to let your doctor know if you are really nervous and they will be sure to talk you through whatever they are doing so there are no surprises. The doctor I had was so professional about it that they worked the same as if they were checking my foot. It may not be anything in which case you'll be relieved when you leave the doctor's, but if something is wrong you absolutely need to know about it. I have had too many friends wait to go to the doctor when if they had gone initially everything that was wrong could have been treated without surgery and stuff. So as much as this may scare you, it's better to know one way or the other sooner or later. If you want to talk to me personally about anything, just email me. Hopefully it's nothing! Mine was a false alarm too! :)

You will not be alone when you go, since you are 17 a parent will be required to attend with you. Second when you go to the doctor you will not be required to fully undress. They will allow you to keep your jeans on and put one of those peekaboo gowns on your top half. As far as the uncomfortable feeling, sorry it is part of being a woman to have physical exams of your breast and a pap smear. I find the best way is to stare at the ceiling and envision myself at one of my favorite places.

You are young so the chances of you having breast cancer are very slim. You can experience a funny feeling or sore feeling in the breast for many reasons. Go see a gynecologist as soon as possible so that they can relieve your fears and explain some of the "women" problems to you.

I find it helpful to go to a woman doctor for the fact I know she has gone through all of the female problems as myself. Nothing against men they just can't understand what it is like to be a woman.

Well, at 17 you should be ready for the first ob/gyn trip if you have not already gone yet. Discuss this with your gynocologist or at least your family doctor.

It is never fun to be naked on a table. In fact all my thoughts usually fly out my head when I am in this situation. That is why I write my questions down before going into that office.

Just remember, they are professionals and have seen it all. You are draped and covered all up anyway except for the part that is being examined. (I do suggest that you keep your sox on; it gets cold).

Please know that knowledge is power. What you find may be nothing and you will be relieved; but at least you will know...and that is a powerful thing.

    Best wishes to you.

While I would chalk it up to a growing pain or minstrel pain, YOU SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR. Even if this is nothing, you should see a gyno by the time your 17 in my opinion. The sooner you get comfortable with a obgyn the better because you need to see one on a regular basis and when something is bothering you.

i friend of mine had that feeling and worried but was nothin in the end.its probably the same for you.it has to do with menstration.you re too young to have cancer of that kind.so dont worry :).but if you still worry then go to the doctor.believe me its not that unconfortable.they are friendly and they know you are not confortable.

i dont understand if you have a weird feeling that something s goin on with your breasts or if you feel something on your breasts.if it s the second then definately go to the doctor.it wont be cancer but it might be somethin else.good luck!
