How do you replace the motherboard battery/CMOS battery?
And are the motherboard battery and CMOS the same thing?

Yes usually they are the same thing. On most motherboards it is a 3volt battery that looks like it should be in a watch. There is no specific place to look as too each motherboard is different. There will be a metal piece that holds it in place and it will either swing left to right or pull back slightly so the battery can be removed. Make sure you get the same type of battery to replace it.
Also, a very helpfull thing would be to find the manual for the maker of your board before doing anything but it is not a requirement.

Yes they are the same. It's a small watch looking battery that's located right on your motherboard. Take it out and go to Radio Shack.

just unplug your CPU then look that battery on your motherboard buy a battery of same capacity then put it on the same place then enter BIOS fix your time and date other wise you will get problem to update things from internet

just remove it ,unplug your computer and use a flat head screwdriver and remove the battery then go to radio shack and find the correct battery
