Fixed my car today how do you clear the GM trouble codes?

    Disconnect the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. Reconnect and wait to see if any other codes come about. If all else fails, you can carry it to Auto-Zone and they may clear them for you.

    Also, just because you replaced a component that the trouble code gave, may not be the actual reason the code was on. I, for instance did that to a Chevy Camaro once and paid nearly $200 for a part and cleared the codes and 10 miles down the road, the light came on and trouble shot and found out the whole trouble was a .10 fuse under the hood.

    Are you talking about the lights still showing on the dashboard as service needed? I know with the oil light you can turn your ignition key in the off position and repeatedly step on the gas peddle three times and the light usually disappears when you start the car again!

    Take them to autozone or an auto parts store, ask them to look the codes up and they can clear them from there...

    Connect the dealership, they will give you the codes. My battery went dead so the radio was out, I called the dealership and they gave me the code...

    easer and quicker, unhook the batery, both sides, then tuch the two ends togather(it wont blow anyting up) that will clear the codes, along with the presets to your radio
