An atom is made up of a nucleus which consists of protons and neutrons, and electrons orbiting the nucleus. The protons are positively charged, the neutrons neutral, and the electrons negative. The smallest atom is Hydrogen, which is just one proton, one neutron, and sometimes an electron, but not all the time (hence the + sign in H+. Without the electron, the overall charge is postitive because of the proton).

ATOM the smallest particle of matter ahich takes part in achemical reaction it can show all the basic properties of the element it belongs Atom has a central nucleus and electrons(-ve charge) orbiting around itself
Nucleus contains +ve protons and neutral neutons
The smallest known atom is hydrogen's it does not have a electron but the isotopes ie that atoms with same no.of protons and same no. of neutrons but different no. of electrons eg.
heavy hydrogen has 1 electon
and very heavy hydrogen has 2 electrons
