ok now I don't know where you reside, but let's assume that you're in a country where they allow dual citizenship.
Italy allows anybody who has Italian bloodties to become an Italian citizen even though you have never set foot in the country. My best advise would be to call or e-mail your local Italian embassy to get all the details. I found some interesting websites that could help you determine whether you are eligible to Italian Citizenship.

Move there, learn the languagae, learn the history, so on. You know, like it is SUPPOSED to be here. Good luck with that. I would hope though that if you want citizenship in Italy, then you will give up American (if that is where you currently are). I don't beleive in dual citizenships. You can only be truly loyal to ONE country.
